Adventure & Culture Escape to Prison Island

Hop on a 30-minutes boat ride from the shore and glide past the Stone Town skyline before setting foot on the gorgeous beach of Prison Island. The island surrounded with crystal clear waters was once used to house violent prisoners and as a quarantine station in the 1890s.

Learn about the adventure of giant tortoise setting their homes on the island since late 19th century. Explore the tortoise sanctuary to discover the world's largest tortoise species; these ancient centenarian tortoises of over 150 years old.
