Elementaita
is a soda lake in the Great Rift Valley
Welcome to Elementaita
Flamingos and Pelicans
Lake Elementaita is a shallow soda lake in the Great Rift Valley between Naivasha and Nakuru. It attracts flocks of flamingos and pelicans, and it is part of the Kenya Lake System, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The surrounding Soysambu Conservancy has zebra, giraffe and other wildlife, and the area is popular for birdwatching.
We combine Elementaita with Naivasha and Nakuru for a Rift Valley lakes route.
Things to do in Elementaita

Watch flamingos and pelicans on the lake, although numbers change with the water level. Then visit the Soysambu Conservancy to see zebras, giraffes and many bird species. You can also soak in the Kekopey hot springs nearby.
Best time to visit
Birdwatching is good all year. However, the dry months from June to October make roads and trails easier to use.
How to get there
Elementaita is about two and a half hours from Nairobi along the Nakuru highway.
