Travel that leaves places better than we found them

Our commitment to wildlife, local communities and responsible tourism, from Nairobi to every destination we serve.

Why sustainability matters to us

Kenya's wildlife, coastline and cultures are the reason people travel with us. Protecting them is part of how we run the business, not an extra.

We work with our guests, drivers, lodges and partners to keep tourism fair for the people who live in these places and gentle on the nature that draws visitors in. We are still learning, and we share both what we do and where we want to improve.

Our promise

Honest travel: we only claim what we can stand behind, and we will keep raising the bar each year.

Our four commitments

Protect nature and wildlife

  • Brief every guest on wildlife viewing etiquette.
  • Favour operators who respect park rules and keep a safe distance from animals.
  • Encourage leave-no-trace travel.

Support local communities

  • Hire local guides, drivers and staff wherever we can.
  • Use locally owned lodges, restaurants and craft sellers.
  • Respect local culture and customs on every trip.

Travel lightly

  • Cut single-use plastic on our tours and in our offices.
  • Plan efficient routes to reduce unnecessary driving.
  • Share tips on saving water and energy on the road.

Run a fair business

  • Pay suppliers and staff fairly and on time.
  • Give clear, honest prices and policies.
  • Protect guests' personal data and safety.

How to travel responsibly

Wildlife

  • Keep a respectful distance and never feed or touch animals.
  • Stay quiet and stay in the vehicle unless your guide says it is safe.
  • Avoid attractions that let you handle or ride wild animals.
  • Choose operators that follow park and conservancy rules.

People and culture

  • Ask before photographing people, and respect a no.
  • Dress modestly in villages and places of worship.
  • Buy crafts directly from local makers and pay a fair price.
  • Learn a few words of Swahili. A greeting goes a long way.

Environment

  • Take your litter with you and stay on marked tracks.
  • Use less water and switch off lights and air conditioning when you leave.
  • Choose reef-safe sunscreen at the coast and never take shells or coral.
  • Share rides and group tours where you can.

Plastic and waste

  • Bring a reusable bottle and refill it where safe water is offered.
  • Say no to plastic straws, bags and single-use toiletries.
  • Carry a small cloth bag for shopping.
  • Choose lodges that sort or reduce their waste.

Projects and partners

The Mara Conservancy Land Lease Program

Benefits: Indigenous Maasai landowners, local community tracking scouts, and critical wildlife migratory corridors in the Greater Maasai Mara ecosystem.
Our Contribution: B Hudson Tours channels a direct percentage of guest overnight park and conservancy fees into communal land-lease payouts through luxury conservancy lodge bookings.

The Nabkoi Forest Canopy Rehabilitation Project

Benefits: Local forest-adjacent communities, regional water towers, and native Kenyan biodiversity.
Our Contribution: We fund an ongoing indigenous tree-planting initiative at Nabkoi Forest Station, funding the purchasing, potting, and long-term monitoring of native tree seedlings.

The Arabuko Sokoke Coastal Canopy Guard

Benefits: Rare endemic species (Sokoke Scops Owl), coastal forest communities, and fragile marine-adjacent ecosystems.
Our Contribution: Leveraging our founder's forestry background (Jilore Forest Station operations), B Hudson Tours finances local eco-guards to prevent illegal logging in coastal forest blocks.
