Diani Beach is a long stretch of white sand on Kenya’s south coast, with warm Indian Ocean water, a coral reef and colobus monkeys in the beachside forest. Visitors come for kitesurfing, snorkelling and dhow trips, and for day excursions to Wasini Island and the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park.

Diani beach holiday: The Sands at Nomad Beach Resort on Diani Beach, Kenya

Relax on Diani Beach, which has soft white sand and calm, warm water. Then snorkel or dive on the coral reef, or try kitesurfing when the winds are right. You can also take a dhow trip to the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park, where dolphins are often seen.

Best time to visit

The coast is warm all year. December to March and July to October are the driest and sunniest months, while April and May bring the heaviest rain.

How to get there

Flights from Nairobi land at the Ukunda airstrip, a short drive from the beach. Mombasa’s airport is also usually less than two hours away by road, including the Likoni crossing.
