Turtle Hatchery and Marine Centre
Description
The Sands at Nomad Beach Resort is a boutique beachfront retreat on the white sands of award-winning Diani Beach, set within 26 acres of indigenous coastal forest. With only 29 suites and rooms in white-walled, ocean-blue Swahili-inspired architecture, it feels intimate and unhurried, and suits families, couples and groups who want a coastal holiday that mixes rest with adventure.
Nomad holds the Travelife Gold certificate for sustainable tourism and has led on conservation on Kenya’s south coast since 2005, with its own organic farm, a turtle hatchery on the beach and a marine education centre. Our team tailors flights, SGR tickets, private transfers and excursions around your plans.

What to Expect
Nomad pairs laid-back comfort with a strong environmental ethos. The beach frontage has a turtle hatchery where guests can sometimes watch hatchlings make their dash to the sea, and a marine education centre staffed by a marine biologist runs talks and creative activities for children. Fruit, vegetables, eggs, herbs and spices come from the Nomad organic farm.
The resort offers a spa, a galana stone swimming pool, a gym, yoga and fitness sessions on a dedicated platform and early morning forest walks. The water sports centre provides kayaking to Diani’s sand island, stand-up paddleboarding, surfing at high tide and gentler windsurfing. Diving the Crab, based at the resort, runs PADI courses for beginners, experienced divers and juniors, and the team can help arrange a dolphin safari, deep-sea fishing or a camel ride.
Dining centres on the beachside restaurant, with an international à la carte menu, a daily special, wood-fired pizzas, a children’s menu and homemade ice cream. Riva’s Bar and Restaurant by the pool is exclusive to hotel guests and turns into a candle-lit dinner spot at dusk. Beach Cottage and Superior Suite guests can book private terrace dining, and the wine cellar offers tasting sessions. Wi-Fi is free throughout the resort.
The starting rate is USD 136 (KSh 17,500) per person per night sharing, bed and breakfast. The final price depends on your travel dates, room category and the number of guests, so contact our team to confirm availability and get a quote.
